Top 7 Four-Way Shuttle Racking Manufacturers (2026): An Engineer's Honest Comparison
Who this comparison is for — and who wrote it
You are probably comparing four-way shuttle racking suppliers for a real project: dense automated pallet storage, somewhere between 3,000 and 50,000 positions, with a go-live date that matters. This page compares seven manufacturers you will realistically encounter in that search.
Disclosure first: this guide is published by JISE, one of the companies in the table. We compare alphabetically, we do not rank ourselves first, and every company entry — including our own — carries a 'not ideal for' column, because a comparison that recommends everyone recommends no one. Facts are compiled from official websites, annual reports and public filings, checked October 2026; where a figure comes from the company's own marketing we say so.
The comparison table
Read the table horizontally for fit, not vertically for rank — the 'best' manufacturer changes with your project size, region and who operates the system afterwards.
| Company (HQ) | Four-way shuttle offering | Rack manufacturing | Certifications / compliance | Best for | Not ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Addverb (Noida, India) | Cruiser pallet shuttle + Multi-Pro mother-child ASRS; full software stack (WES/WCS/FMS) | Racking within integrated systems | Company-reported CE compliance on robot lines | India/ME projects wanting one robotics vendor for hardware + software | Buyers who need rack-only supply, or heavy high-bay structural track record outside India |
| HWArobotics (Singapore) | FPSS1500 four-directional pallet shuttle, 1,500 kg, ±3 mm, cold-store variant to −25 °C; tote shuttles, lifts, WMS/WCS | Racking offered as part of shuttle systems | CE (UL cited for North America line) | Integrators wanting an OEM shuttle partner — their stated model is channel-first | Buyers set on mixing a different shuttle brand with separately engineered racking |
| Inform Storage 音飞 (Nanjing, China) | Light + heavy four-way shuttles, mother-child, multi-shuttle, stackers, AGV, own WMS/WCS | Core business — reported 200,000 t/year racking capacity, 8 plants incl. Thailand | SSE-listed (603066), state-controlled; reported 153 patents | Large turnkey projects in Asia wanting a listed, single-source system house | Small/mid projects; buyers who want an independent rack supplier alongside a different integrator |
| JISE (Dongtai, China) | Rack structure engineered to FEM 10.2.19, integrated with partner shuttle brands — or supplied complete | The specialization — 40,000 t/year, roll-forming + automatic powder coating | AS 4084 CoC (series 24111305), FEM/EN design basis, RMI MH16.1 component tests, CE, TÜV audit, ISO 9001/14001/45001 | Buyers and integrators who want the rack engineered around the robot — with independent test evidence — at manufacturer pricing | Buyers who insist on shuttle robots, WMS and racking all from one brand; very small static-racking orders |
| Shicang 世仓 (Shanghai, China) | Four-way shuttle systems since 2006 (first gen), reported 1,500+ shuttles delivered | Reported 100,000 t/year racking capacity | National-level 'Little Giant' SME; company-reported 500+ tests/year with university labs | Dense-storage projects in Chinese-language markets; cold-store shuttle experience | Projects needing English-language engineering documentation and overseas installation crews |
| Speedlog / Maxrac (Shanghai, China) | Radio shuttle and four-way shuttle racking lines | Broad general racking catalog | Company-cited CE/ISO; appears in third-party four-way shuttle market reports | Buyers wanting a broad static + automated catalog from one export-experienced factory | Large automated high-bay programs needing published, project-level engineering evidence |
| SSI Schäfer (Neunkirchen, Germany) | SSI Pallet Roaming Shuttle (with Moffett Automation), 1,500 kg, −25 °C; SLR channel systems; WAMAS software | Full-range German racking manufacturing | The industry's tier-one compliance culture | Enterprises wanting premium single-source automation with global service | Budget-constrained projects; buyers avoiding single-vendor ecosystem lock-in |
Three archetypes, three buying logics
Full-source system houses (SSI Schäfer, Inform) sell certainty: one contract, one throat to choke, one software stack. You pay for it — in price, and in being married to their ecosystem for the system's 15-year life.
Robot OEMs (HWArobotics, Addverb) sell the machines and software, and the racking is engineered around their robots. Strong when the shuttle technology itself is your decision driver.
Rack-structure specialists (JISE, and partially Shicang and Speedlog) sell the structural half of the system. This matters more than buyers expect: rail straightness, lane tolerances and batch consistency are manufactured, not specified — they decide whether the shuttles run at rated speed. If your integrator or robot brand is already chosen, a rack specialist engineered to that robot's interface drawings is usually the highest-value configuration.

What to verify with any of the seven
- Component test reports for the exact rack profiles quoted — not 'similar' sections.
- A delivered four-way project you can call, ideally in your region and temperature range.
- Who manufactures the lane rails, and how rail straightness is verified (roll-forming line data, not promises).
- The spare-parts and service model for shuttles in your country, in writing.
- Who owns system design liability when rack and robots come from different vendors — put the interface data exchange in the contract.
Methodology and sources
Companies were selected for genuine four-way shuttle activity and international visibility; ordering is alphabetical. Facts were compiled in October 2026 from official websites (ssi-schaefer.com, hwarobotics.com, informrack.com, wapsh.com, maxrac.com, addverb.com), Inform Storage's SSE filings (603066), and reputable trade press (DC Velocity, Times of India, PR Newswire). Figures from company marketing are marked as 'reported'. We deliberately excluded shuttle robot brands with no racking manufacturing, and racking traders with no factory. If you represent a listed company and want a correction, email [email protected] — we will verify and amend.

Frequently asked questions
Who is the largest four-way shuttle racking manufacturer?
By total intralogistics revenue, SSI Schäfer (Germany) is the global tier-one. Among Chinese manufacturers, SSE-listed Inform Storage reports the largest scale (200,000 t/year racking capacity, 5,000+ shuttles/year in company disclosures). 'Largest' is not 'best fit' — project size, region and after-sales model decide that.
Should I buy the racking and the shuttle robots from the same vendor?
Single-vendor gives one-point accountability at a price premium. Split-vendor (robot brand + rack specialist) usually saves 20–35% and lets you pick best-of-breed — but only works if the rack manufacturer engineers to the robot's interface drawings and the contract assigns interface responsibility. JISE works both ways: rack-only to your shuttle partner's drawings, or complete systems.
What does a four-way shuttle racking system cost?
Industry ranges run roughly $120–350 per pallet position depending on system type, height, lane depth, temperature rating and shuttle count. See our cost-per-position breakdown and estimator for a project-shaped number.
How do I verify a manufacturer's claims?
Ask for component test reports for the exact profiles quoted, a referenceable delivered four-way project in your region, rail straightness verification methods, and the service model for shuttles in your country. Manufacturers with nothing to hide publish their evidence — JISE's AS 4084, FEM and RMI test documents are downloadable from our Quality page.
